AMS – Engineering the Future City
The recently founded Amsterdam institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS) aims to design new metropolitan solutions for future challenges such as climate change, urbanization, empowerment and resource scarcity. Together with the academic partners TU Delft, Wageningen UR, MIT Boston and various recognized industry and societal partners such as the municipality of Amsterdam, KPN, Shell, Waag society and Waternet, AMS will develop a deeper understanding of the city and provide metropolitan solutions through research projects and test beds (http://www.ams-amsterdam.com/category/research-programs/).
Are you a motived student with a great interest in cities and would you like to work in an interdisciplinary environment and implement metropolitan sustainable solutions? Than we’ve got great news! The newly founded AMS welcomes ambitious students from Wageningen and offers you unique AMS facilities, research and design cases and access to the extensive AMS network! Through a MSc Thesis Research, Summer School, Monthly Lectures and starting from September 2017 a MSc Programme Metropolitan Research, Engineering and Design you can join the AMS challenge!
For information for these great opportunities, please visit the AMS website on http://www.ams-institute.org/education/ and have a good look at the requirement criteria. For questions you can contact our own study programme director Erik Heijmans (Erik.Heijmans@wur.nl) who carries the AMS flagship for education activities from Wageningen onwards.
The Lean Scientist / Powered by Climate-KIC
The academic world is in transition. Funding for research continues to move from first to second and third money stream. Universities have to search for new ‘business models’ to assure financial and scientific health in the future. This means that scientists need to find connections and demands in the market and in society to support their research. The Lean Scientist helps researchers to translate knowledge into value, through courses in valorisation. Check it out on:
